Nancy's Notes September 11, 2008
It looked like Hurricane Gustav missed New Orleans and hit the library last week. This moving business is messy. The public access computers left the building on Thursday along with the desks where they sat. Thank you to four students from the high school who helped us load that furniture and the computers. All they received in return was a thank you and a doughnut.
Our groundbreaking will be held on Friday, September 12, at 10:00 a.m. It is open to the public. We invite you to show up at our Main Street location for a short program and refreshments. The Clarion/Goldfield fifth grade class is making cookies and several members of the class will be on hand to serve refreshments.
The number of volunteers we have had involved in our relocation has been tremendous. You don’t realize how many little details need attention until you under-take a project of this size. It is nice to have people willing to lighten the load.
Our architect was at the city council meeting last week where he presented the bids for final approval. He told the council that digging may begin as early as next week, so watch for progress as you drive by.
We will be closed September 8 – 17 and reopen at noon on September 18. Look for us across the street from Caseys, 912 Central Ave, Monday through Wednesday between noon and 8:00 p.m. or Thursday through Saturday between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
