Sandra Dallas's "Prayers for Sale" tells of bond formed between two women who are generations apart. It begins in 1936 during the Great Depression which has taken a toll on eighty-six-year-old Hennie Comfort. She has lived in Middle Swan, Colorado since before it was Colorado. When she first meets seventeen-year-old Nit Spindle,
she is drawn to the young girl. Nit and her husband have come to the mining town in search of work, however the loneliness Nit feels is almost too much for her to bear. One day she notices an old sign that reads "Prayers for Sale" in front of Hennie's house. Hennie invites Nit in. The hardships each has endured help them to create an instant bond and their friendship is born. I just had a patron stop and mentioned how well written this story was and mentioned that it had a great story line.
