Nancy's Notes - September 10, 2009
Most of you have noticed that we are now closed for moving. Our shelving came last week. It took the crew all week to put all those pieces together. They look great and it's so nice to have shelves that match and are sturdy. Note the front yard now that the sod is laid and the parking lot is finished.
Many of you have wondered what we will do for three weeks while we are closed. It will take the crew at least one week to move the books and other materials. It will give us time to shelf read and make sure everything is in order before our opening. Even though our books are our major concern, we have store rooms to move and set up with programming materials and office supplies. After the stacks and other materials are moved, we will have technicians in to hook up our computers and public work stations. The staff will also be attending a continuing education class during this time.
Our ribbon cutting will be held at 10:00 onTuesday, September 29. The public is invited to attend. There will be a short program with tours to follow. We will be open for business from noon until 8:00 p.m. Volunteers will be on hand to give tours until closing.
Since you will not be able to check out materials for the next couple of weeks, I thought I'd just let you know a few new titles we have received. I will be back to writing about individual titles in a couple for weeks.
When weopen look for these titles: The Birthday Present by Barbara Vine; Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella; There's Something About St. Tropez by Eliazabeth Adler; Woman With Birthmark by Hakan Nesser; Blindman's Bluff by Fay Kellerman; Burn by Linda Howard; I'll Scream Later by Marlee Matlain; Black Hills by NoraRoberts; Alex Cross's Trial by James Patterson and Richard Dilallo; The Wedding Girl by Madeleine Wickham; The Calligrapher's Daughter by Eugenia Kim; The Birthing House by Christopher Ransom; The Eleventh Victim by Nancy Grace; The Help by Kathryn Stockett; Below Zero by C.J. Box; The Moon Looked Down by Dorothy Garlock.
See you on September 29!
