Nancy's Notes - October 22, 2009

Circulation increase, internet use, meeting room availability.

We have been so busy since opening.  After checking our circulation system we found that 1,074 items were checked out in the first two days.  In the first two weeks of this month 1,758 items have been circulated. This is an average of 153 items per day. Statistics show that a new facility will increase your circulation by approximately 30%. Currently we're at about a 66 % increase.  Our regular duties have been falling a little behind while we are dealing with our added patronage.  Please be patient with us as we get settled in.
There are now seven computer stations instead of five. It may not look like we have added more stations since they are all full after school and many hours during the day. We are so happy to start out in a new building with new technology for the public.  This week we also had many people from out of town, even out of state, using our wireless.  Those from out of the area have also been very impressed with the new building.
Two rooms are now available for public rental.  Our community room will hold over 100 people in chairs or around 80 people seated around tables.  There is also a projector screen and kitchenette in the room.  Our children's programming room is also available for rental.  That room is only convenient for small groups.  Call us if you want to reserve a date or find out more details.  We have a gate which blocks off our collection so the rooms can be used even when the building is closed.
If you haven't had a chance to visit, stop in Monday through Wednesday between noon and 8:00 p.m. or Thursday through Saturday between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
