Nancy's Notes - June 17, 2010
Thursday or Friday is the day I usually write my article. Today has been crazy with activity so this will be short and sweet.
We had all three basement rooms and two rooms upstairs full with Teddy Bear Reunion presentations today. Our computer stations and laptops were also full between the students being out of school and spouses of Teddy Bear collectors. We've had a fun time visiting with our out of town guests, but maybe have not accomplished quite as much as we thought we would.
Mark your calendars for summer reading. This year's theme is, "Make a Splash at Your Library". Our kick-off will be July 1, when "Wonderweavers" will be at the library to tell stories. Their theme for the day will be, "Go Wild, Wet and Wacky". On July 8th, we'll have art projects and other activities for the children to enjoy. Blank Park Zoo will bring a handful of animals on July 15th. Our final session will be held on July 22, Stephanie Schmidt, local chemistry instructor, will be presenting experiments with water. Each session will begin at 10:15. Sessions generally last about 45 minutes. Preschool children need a guardian present.
We have three different groups currently holding book clubs. The library hosts a club the fourth week of each month. If you are interested in joining, we meet over the noon hour. Stop by the front desk and we'll give you the details.
Our computer stations remain full from opening until closing during the summer. If you are interested in using them you may want to call ahead and reserve a spot. We have limited laptops available for use with our wireless signal. You must leave a drivers license at the front desk and be over 18 years of age.
Stay cool with a book or movie. We are open for check-out: Monday through Wednesday between noon and 8:00 p.m. or Thursday through Saturday between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
