Nancy's Notes - April 12, 2012

“Betrayal” by Danielle Steel, “Back of Beyond” by C. J. Box, “Firebird” by Jack McDevitt.
We received another new shipment of books last week. Stop in and you may find something of interest.
Danielle Steel’s newest,  “Betrayal” , is now on our shelves. Tallie Jones is a Hollywood legend. A filmmaker who has won critical acclaim, she has a passion for her work, but no interest in the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. Tallie maintains a close relationship with her college-age daughter, her aging father, and Hunter Lloyd her producing partner and live-in lover. In the midst of directing her largest film yet, disturbances ripple through her well-ordered world. An audit reveals discrepancies in the financial records maintained by her trusted accountant. Receipts hint at activities of which she has no knowledge. Someone close to Tallie has been steadily funneling away large amounts of her money. She soon finds herself playing the most dangerous game of all-to trap a predator stalking her in plain sight.
    C. J. Box has become a favorite of many of our readers. His latest, “Back of Beyond”, centers around Cody Hoyt. Hoyt is an alcoholic cop struggling to stay sober. When his friend Hank Winters is found burned to death in a remote mountain cabin, it looks like suicide. Cody knows Hank better than that. As he takes a closer look at his friend’s death, it becomes apparent that someone murdered him and tried to make it seem like something else.
Jack McDevitt introduces, Dr. Christopher Robin, in “Firebird”. The renowned physicist disappeared forty-one years ago, during the Great Kolandra Earthquake. Now his widow has died and Alex Benedict has been asked to handle the auction of the physicist’s artifacts, leading the public to once again speculate on the mystery surrounding Robin’s disappearance.
