Nancy's Notes - December 27, 2012
The next of weeks are busy for everyone but when you have a breather you may want something good to read. We will have special hours for the New Year Holiday. The library will be open 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on New Years Eve. We will be closed on New Years Day and open once again at noon on January 2.
Santa paid a visit to the library on December 18. Many children and parents enjoyed the opportunity to visit with Santa, take a picture, and make some Christmas crafts. It’s always fun to see the excitement in the eyes of the youngsters.
I was snowed in West Des Moines for three days last week so if you noticed my article missing that was my excuse. This week I do have a couple of books that should peak your interest.
Lisa Genova, “Left Neglecteed”, looks interesting. Sarah Nickerson is a career-driven, Harvard graduate. She lives in an affluent Boston suburb with her husband and three children. As vice-president of human resources at a consulting firm and a mother and wife, she is an over-scheduled, over achiever. Her life style is about to change. Driving to work one day, trying to make a phone call, she looks away from the road and is involved in an accident. A traumatic brain injury completely erases the left side of her world. She finds herself unaware of anything that takes place on the left side of her body.
Patricia Cornwell brings medical examiner Kay Scarpetta back in, “The Bone Bed”. A woman has vanished while digging a dinosaur bone bed in a remote wilderness of Canada. Somehow the only evidence has made its way to Scarpetta’s office, over two thousand miles from the disappearance. She has no idea why, but as events unfold, Scarpetta begins to suspect that the woman’s disappearance is connected to a series of crimes closer to home.
Stop in and check out a book to curl up with: Monday through Wednesday between noon and 8:00 p.m. or Thursday through Saturday between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
