Nancy's Notes -October 29, 2015

“Planning for Results” meeting, November 9 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., “The Last Midwife” by Sandra Dallas, “The Unfortunate Decisions of Dahlia Moss” by Max Wirestone.

The library is hosting “Planning for Results” meeting, November 9 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. It’s a community –focused strategic planning session necessary for effective library service.  Those attending will help develop recommended library service priorities. There will be a light meal served. If you are interested in attending call the library at 532-3673 to make a reservation. The library will be closing at 5:30 that day so the staff can also attend.
I have enjoyed novels by Sandra Dallas in the past. Her latest is entitled, “The Last Midwife”. It begins in 1880 and Gracy Brookens is the only midwife in the small Colorado mining town where she has delivered hundreds of babies during her lifetime. The women of Swandyke trust and depend on Gracy but everything changes when a baby is found dead and the evidence points to Gracy as the murderer. She didn't commit the crime, but clearing her name isn't so easy when her innocence is not quite as simple, either.
A new author to us, Max Wirestone, has written “The Unfortunate Decisions of Dahlia Moss”. Dahlia is the reigning queen of unfortunate decision-making in the St. Louis area. Unemployed broke, and on her last bowl of ramen, she's not living her best life. But that's all about to change. Before Dahlia can make her life any messier on her own she's offered a job. A job that she's under-qualified for. A job that will lead her to a murder and possibly a fella.

Stop in and see us: Monday through Wednesday between 12:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., Thursday and Friday between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., or Saturday between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
