Nancy's Notes - June 30, 2016
We’ve seen a lot of children come through the doors this summer. The computers are always a draw as well as our afternoon activities. Preschoolers are invited to attend storytime on Wednesday afternoons between 3:00 and 3:45 and children k-3 meet on Fridays at 2:00. There is no registration required for these events. The ever popular ISU Bug Zoo will be here at 1:00 on June 30.
Just in is “I Almost Forgot About You”, by Terry McMillan. Dr. Georgia Young has wonderful life with great friends, family, and successful career but that’s not enough to keep her from feeling stuck and restless. When she decides to make some major changes in her life, including quitting her job as an optometrist and moving, she finds herself on a wild journey that may or may not include a second chance at love. Georgia’s bravery lets us know that it’s never too late to become the person you want to be.
John Preston’s, “Dig”, begins in the summer of 1939. Britain is preparing for war, but on a farm in Suffolk there is excitement of another kind. Mrs. Pretty, the widowed owner of the farm, has had her hunch confirmed that the mounds on her land hold buried treasure. As the dig proceeds, it becomes clear that this is no ordinary find.
We have been busy taking inventory and weeding books that no longer circulate. They have been placed on our sale shelf. These are great bargains and are good for those summer vacations. You don’t have to worry if they get lost as you travel.
Also good for those long trips are our audio books. Listening to the story can be a group activity, and you won’t get car sick reading.
Stop in and see us: Monday through Wednesday between noon and 8:00 p.m., Thursday and Friday between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., or Saturday between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
