Nancy's Notes - September 6, 2012

Jennifer Weiner’s “The Next Best Thing”, James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge have co-written, “I, Michael Bennett”, “Fifty Shades of Grey”.
We have several new large print as well as regular print books ready to go. The library owns the first two books I’m listing today in both formats. If you are hoping for a light, fast read Jennifer Weiner’s “The Next Best Thing” may fill the bill. Twenty-three year old Ruth Saunders left her home in Massachusetts and headed west with her seventy-year-old grandma, hoping to make it as a screenwriter. Six years later she hits it big when her sitcom, The Next Best Thing, is picked up and she gets to run the show. Her dreams of happiness are threatened by demanding actors, network execs, a crush on her boss, and her grandmother’s impending nuptials.
James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge have co-written, “I, Michael Bennett”. Detective Michael Bennett arrests a Mexican crime lord in a deadly chase that leaves Bennett’s lifelong friend Hughie McDonough dead. From jail, the prisoner vows to get revenge on Bennett. To escape the danger, Bennett takes his ten kids and their nanny on a vacation at his family’s cabin near New York. Instead of the calm and happy town, they step into a nightmare of warring gangs and there’s little the police, or Bennett, can do to keep the children safe. As violence overwhelms the state, Bennett is torn between protecting his hometown and saving New York City.
Yes, we do have “Fifty Shades of Grey” along with the other two books in this trilogy. There are probably very few books that have received this much publicity. We have a long waiting list for these very graphic books. I have to say, they are probably not for the faint of heart.
