Audio Book statistics, “Burgess Boys” by Elizabeth Strout, “Unstoppable: the Incredible Power of Faith” by Nick Vujicic

My little tidbit of trivia for the week, this is National Audio Book month.  Here’s some information to fill those dead spaces in conversation. Did you know that the average adult audio user will listen to audio books five hours per week? Generally they are frequent readers who enjoy reading and doing activities such as driving, exercising, or doing household chores at the same time. They are usually 30+ years of age with higher incomes and education. Now I can’t prove any of this, but you know the internet can’t be wrong. We currently have between 200 and 300 audio books. They are great for long drives while on vacation.
The reviews have been good for Elizabeth Strout’s , “Burgess Boys”. Haunted by the freak accident that killed their father when they were children, Jim and Bob Burgess escaped from their Maine hometown of Shirley Falls for New York City as soon as they possibly could. Jim, a successful corporate lawyer, has belittled his brother their whole lives, and Bob, a Legal Aid attorney, has always taken it in stride. But their family dynamics change when their sister, Susan, the Burgess sibling who stayed behind, calls them home. Her teenage son, Zach, has gotten himself into a world of trouble and Susan desperately needs their help. And so the Burgess brothers return to the landscape of their childhood, where the long-buried tensions that have shaped and shadowed their relationship begin to surface in unexpected ways that will change them forever.
Those of you who enjoy biographies will like, “Unstoppable: the Incredible Power of Faith”.  Despite being born without arms or legs, Nick Vujicic’s challenges have not kept him from enjoying great adventures, a fulfilling and meaningful career, and loving relationships. Nick has overcome trials and hardships by focusing on the promises that he was created for a unique and specific purpose, that his life has value and is a gift to others, and that no matter the despair and hard times in life, God is always present. Nick credits his success in life to the power that is unleashed when faith takes action.
