Nancy's notes - July 7, 2016

Summer programs, "First Comes Love" by Emily Giffin, James Patterson books.

We had our ISU Bug Zoo come last Thursday. The kids always enjoy looking at the bugs and holding one or two. Our next presenter will be the Hanson family on July19 also at 1:00 p.m. They juggle, ride unicycles, and involve the kids.  If you have young children at home we have a storytime for two years through pre-K each Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. -3:45 p.m. Children kindergarten through third grade will have a story and activities on Fridays at 2:00. You do not have to register to attend.
Emily Giffin has several selections available at the library. Her latest is, “First Comes Love”. Growing up, Josie and Meredith Garland shared a loving relationship. Josie was impulsive and outgoing, Meredith hardworking and reserved. When tragedy strikes, their bond splinters. Fifteen years later, Josie and Meredith are in their late thirties, following different paths. Josie, a first grade teacher, is single. What she wants more than the right guy is to become a mother. The feeling is heightened when her ex-boyfriend’s daughter is assigned to her class. Determined to have the future she’s always wanted, Josie decides to take matters into her own hands. On the outside, Meredith has the perfect life. A successful attorney, she’s married to a wonderful man, and together they’re raising a beautiful four-year-old daughter. Yet lately Meredith feels dissatisfied and restless, secretly wondering if she chose the life that was expected of her rather than the one she truly desired. As the anniversary of their tragedy that drove them apart looms, and painful secrets from the past begin to surface, Josie and Meredith must not only confront the issues that divide them but also come to terms with their own choices
I recently heard an interview on television with James Patterson. He is now publishing “book shots”. These stories will be 100 pages and cost around $5.00 each. We will have several of these titles coming in next month. With all his ghost writers he is our most prolific writer. We currently have two books on our new release shelf. One is,” Private Paris”, the latest in his Private series. It is written with Mark Sullivan. The second is “15th Affair”, the latest in his Women’s Murder Club Series. It is written with Maxine Paetro.
