New on The Shelf
"The Store" by James Patterson. Convenience is the way of the future. The Store can deliver anything to anyone, even before they know they really need it. This seems fine with most everyone, except Jacob and Megan Brandeis, a pair of New York writers on the edge of losing their jobs. Now Jacob and Megan are going undercover to expose the secrets of The Store and that could prove deadly.
"Exposed" by Lisa Scottoline. Mary DiNunzio plans to represent an old friend, Simon, a sales rep fired wrongfully by his company. However, her partner Bennie Rosato is representing the company that fired Simon. An obvious conflict of interest sparking a battle of wills and legal strategy between two friends and associates threatens the law firm and their friendship.
"American Fire" by Monica Hesse. Washington Post reporter Monica Hesse sets out in detail over 2 years of covering a series of arson fires in rural Virginia. Starting on a midnight in November, the fires went on for months in Accomack County. Vigilante groups patrolled, volunteer firefighters slept on stations, and suspicion crept into everyday dealings. When the man behind the fires was finally caught, the story turned out to be more than anyone had imagined.
