"Lie To Me" by J.T. Ellison, "The Lying Game" by Ruth Ware, "A Column of Fire" by Ken Follett.

New on The Shelf

"Lie To Me" by J.T. Ellison.  Sutton and Ethan Monclair seem to live an ideal life, but the reality is much darker.  As financial troubles mount, personal and professional betrayals build on one another, and bitter resentment builds between the couple behind closed doors.  Then Sutton disappears, leaving just a note with a warning not to seek her out.  Vicious rumors and gossip tear at Ethan as he becomes the main target of a police investigation and all the lies the Montclair’s  told come tumbling down.

"The Lying Game" by Ruth Ware.  Four girls become friends at Salten House boarding school and quickly bond over a questionable activity, the Lying Game.  A contest of lies, tricking the other students and faculty, builds to a disappearance and the expulsion of the four.  Now years later, after going their separate ways, four women must come back together to save themselves and uncover the truth from the lies of the past.

"A Column of Fire" by Ken Follett.  The year is 1558, and England is torn by religious conflict.  Ned Willard has one goal, to marry the woman he loves, Margery.  However, with the two on opposing sides of the Catholic/Protestant divide that may not be possible.  Ned begins working for Princess Elizabeth, and when she becomes Queen and all of Europe seems to turn on England, he becomes a part of the country’s first secret service.  A battle between tolerance and tyrants, but what will be the cost?
