New on the Shelf

"Seeing Red" by Sandra Brown. Major Franklin Trapper cemented himself as a hero and national icon twenty-five years ago by guiding a handful of survivors to safety after the bombing of a Dallas hotel. Major Trapper then spent years on the speech and interview circuit, until suddenly dropping from public view completely. Now TV journalist Kerra Bailey is looking to get more answers from the Major, going so far as to contact his estranged son and former ATF agent, John Trapper. When the interview is attacked, all bets are off and the truth behind that Dallas bombing may come to light at last.
"Y is for Yesterday" by Sue Grafton. In 1979, four elite private school boys assaulted a fourteen-year- old classmate and filmed the attack. Shortly thereafter, the tape goes missing and the classmate who was suspected of the theft is murdered. In the ensuing investigation one of the boys testifies against the others and sends two to prison while the ringleader escapes without a trace. Now in 1989 and one of the convicts is being released from prison, and greeted with a copy of the tape and a ransom demand.  That is where Kinsey Millhone comes in, asked for help and drawn into the family drama and perhaps a deeper mystery.
"Paradise Valley" by C.J. Box. They call him the Lizard King, a serial killer haunting North America’s truck stops and highways. But after years of preying on the unwary, the Lizard King is tired of it all. The end is near for him. Chief Investigator Cassandra Dewell has been after the Lizard King for three years, coming close to catching him twice, and now she feels this trap will work. Even after three police officers lose their lives and Cassie loses her job, she can’t shake the feeling that the body they recovered doesn’t belong to the infamous Lizard King. So now, she will follow the road, alone, to the end she knows must come.
