New on the Shelf
"Fall from Grace" by Danielle Steel. With the death of her husband, Sydney Wells’s life seems to fall apart. Left out of the will and cut off by her stepdaughters who control their fathers’ estate, Sydney must find her way with no money or home of her own. Chancing upon a job in fashion leaves Sydney adrift in a sea of dishonesty she is ill equipped to handle and facing criminal prosecution. Now that she has lost everything, can Sydney Wells rebuild herself as well as her career?
"Daughters of the Night Sky" by Aimie K. Runyan. From an early age, Katya Ivanova wanted to fly, first to escape her bleak life in the mountains, and now to serve Russia. The Nazis are marching across Europe and Katya will do her part as a proud daughter of Russia, no matter what anyone says. Highly trained, Katya is placed in the 588 th Night Bomber Regiment, one of the only Soviet air units comprised of only women. They earn the name the “Night Witches”, bringing fear to the Germans and hope to their allies.  However, the hardest challenges may come after the war is over.
"Eternal Life" by Dara Horn. Think about what it really means to live forever, not just what you might see but what you will have to live with. Since she struck a deal to save the life of her son 2,000 years ago, that is what Rachel has done. Just recently she has had to deal with widowhood, a business failing, an unemployed middle-aged son, and being stalked by a former lover who is just as old as she is. Now as the twenty-first century dawns, her children and grandchildren confront the concept of immortality in their own ways, bringing change to the world and the fate of their whole family.
