New On the Shelf

Better Off Read by Nora Page.  When a storm damages the Catalpa Springs library, librarian Cleo Watkins goes toe to toe with the ridiculous young mayor in order to save it.  Cleo takes to the streets in her bookmobile, Words on Wheels, and backed by her assistant and the library cat to rally support for the library restoration.  However, trouble seems to follow when the local rich eccentric and library benefactor starts asking for books on how to get away with murder.  Soon after the man is found bludgeoned and all evidence points to Cleo’s best friend, Mary-Rose.  Cleo will put all her librarian’s cunning and sleuthing skill to the test to save her friend and her library.

By Invitation Only by Dorothea Benton Frank.  Diane English Stiftel’s son Fred is getting married, so she, her brother Floyd and their parents are throwing a barbecue engagement party in Lowcountry South Carolina style.  The bride’s parents, Alejandro and Susan Cambria, come from the high power and big money of the Chicago elite, and seem to run into troubles with cell reception and moonshine at the party.  So of course, they have to throw another engagement party back in Chicago for the more sophisticated crowd back home.  World and parents collide with Fred and Shelby in the middle and trying to get their life together off to a positive start.

Robin by Dave Itzkoff.  He was a stand-up comedian, Mork from Ork, the genie, a DJ, a teacher, a nanny, and so many other things to countless people.  Dave Itzkoff takes an in depth look at the life of Robin Williams.  From the ups and downs of his professional life and into the struggles of his personal life, Itzkoff draws from interviews with friends, colleagues and family to paint a fair and accurate picture of Williams.  He paced the stage like a man possessed and spoke openly about his troubles with addiction and depression, and was beloved by fans and friends alike.
