New On the Shelf

The Hidden Side by Heidi Chiavaroli.  New York, 2016.  Popular radio host Natalie Abbot helps her listeners with their problems while struggling with her relationships with her daughter and son.  With one child in an extremely unhealthy relationship and the other cutting off communication with everyone, Natalie finds herself wondering who she truly is underneath the radio persona.  New York, 1776.  Mercy Howard cannot comprehend her fiancé being arrested and hanged as a spy.  However, the death of Nathan Hale, the man she loved, brings Mercy into the revolutionary spy ring in Manhattan.  Between keeping her true loyalties a secret, working to avenge Nathan’s death, and her target becoming more than a target, Mercy finds herself mentally close to being pulled apart.  Separated by time, the trials of one woman become a balm to the soul of another.

Robert B. Parker’s Old Black Magic by Ace Atkins.  Boston PI Spenser is back and getting into the black market art scene.  Twenty years ago several priceless paintings were stolen from a premier Boston art museum, never to be seen or heard of again.  The heist became a legend, and the pieces were thought hidden away, lost, or destroyed.  However, when paint chips from the most famous of the lost paintings, Gentlemen in Black, turn up on the desk of a Boston journalist, the museum brings Spenser onto the case.  Now Spenser must navigate the perils of high society and the dangers of back alleys to bring all the leads together, tie up a decade’s old cold case, and just maybe return the stolen art.

Sunburn by Laura Lippman.  It all started with a simple meeting in a local tavern.  Polly was heading west, and Adam was headed anywhere but Belleville, Delaware.  Finding themselves drawn to each other, they stay, ending up spending the whole summer together.  Polly and Adam throw themselves almost entirely into the relationship, but both hold back secrets, dark, dangerous, and growing as autumn comes.  When someone dies, perhaps by accident, perhaps not, Adam and Polly are so tied to each other that getting apart may not even be an option, or even a desire.

We also just got in quite a few new large print books and audiobooks.  If you prefer a larger print when reading or just like to listen to a good book we have you covered with both new releases and classic favorites.
