New On the Shelf

Liar, Liar by Lisa Jackson.  Twenty years ago, Didi Storm was a celebrity impersonator working the Vegas strip, too focused on work for her daughter Remmi.  Now her star is on the rise thanks to a tell-all book, or at least it was until Didi took a dive off a San Francisco building.  To the police, it is simply a promotional stunt gone wrong, or maybe just suicide.  But whatever the case may be, Remmi knows the body wearing Didi’s clothes and wig isn’t her mother.  Now Remmi must think back to the last time she saw her mother, to dark deeds in the desert and the disappearance of her twin half-siblings.  What connection did the victim have to Didi, where is she now, and if someone was willing to kill for these secrets once, will they do it again?

All We Ever Wanted by Emily Griffin.  Nina married well, her husband made a fortune in the sale of his tech company, and her son was just admitted to Princeton.  Life is good, but Nina sometimes wonders if she is still that same small-town girl at heart.  Tom works hard to raise and provide for his daughter all by himself, it can be lonely and frustrating, but his daughter getting into the prestigious Windsor Academy seems worth the sacrifice.  When a single indiscretion, a simple photograph, threatens to tear down both families, perhaps the questions they ask themselves will have the most important answers.

Bimini Twist by Linda Greenlaw.  Green Havens’ biggest event of the season is the Summer Solstice Soiree, and for some reason she can’t figure out, Jane Bunker has managed an invite.  Hobnobbing with the upper crust isn’t her idea of a good time however, she’d rather be doing her job as an insurance investigator or deputy sheriff.  Her zeal in pursuit of her job is also making waves in the tourist centered resort town, Janes success in disrupting the local drug trade has cast a light on just how bad things have gotten, and that makes the locals depending on tourist trade nervous.  Now Jane is being reassigned to a simple missing persons case, one that will plunge her into the underbelly of Green Haven.
