New On the Shelf

Cooper’s Charm by Lori Foster.  Phoenix Rose had it all, a fiancé, a successful business, and a generally happy life.  After the burglary, however, her life is in tatters and her confidence is lost completely.  Looking to get away from reminders of what she had, Phoenix takes a job at the lakeside resort of Cooper’s Charm.  The lovely scenery and friendly co-workers a balm on her soul, and her charming widowed boss doesn’t hurt either.  Deciding to check up on her little sister, Ridley Rose finds herself unexpectedly filling in as a housekeeper at Cooper’s Charm.  Finding enjoyment in the job, and the attentions of the handsome scuba instructor, sooths the ache of a messy divorce.  What began as a detour for the sisters may end up being a satisfying and permanent destination.

Cottage by the Sea by Debbie Macomber.  Seeking an escape from recent tragedy, Annie Marlow heads to Oceanside in the Pacific Northwest, back to the site of family vacations past and happier memories.  Working to rebuild and repair both the seaside rental cabin and her soul, Annie finds help with both in some of the locals.  The painter with a frame equal to his huge heart, the reclusive landlord Annie is set on befriending, and the teen harboring dark secrets all seem to fill the cracks in Annie’s soul.  When all seems set, Annie has the possible opportunity of a lifetime, if she is willing to leave the comfort and safety of her seaside haven.

The Broken Girls by Simone St. James.  In 1950 Vermont was home to Idlewild Hall, a boarding school and place for ‘troubled’ girls.  According to the rumors, the place is haunted, and these rumors cement the budding friendship of four girls at Idlewild, at least until one of the girls disappears.  In 2014 try as she might, Fiona Sheridan cannot get away from the death of her sister.  Her body was found twenty years ago, in a field near the remains of Idlewild Hall, and while the boyfriend was tried and convicted of the murder, something about the whole ordeal never sat right with Fiona.  When she finds that a mysterious benefactor is restoring Idlewild Hall, Fiona dedicates herself to writing a story about Idlewild and the new work.  However, a discovery unearthed during the renovation linking her sister to even darker secrets will bring forth a voice that will not be silenced.
