New On the Shelf

Santa’s on His Way by Lisa Jackson, Maisey Yates, Stacy Finz, and Nicole Helm.  Get in the holiday spirit with four holiday stories from four authors.  Annie was expecting an uneventful Christmas, not a baby on the snowy doorstep of her Oregon cabin.  Moreover, certainly not the angry, yet handsome man claiming to be the father of the little bundle of joy.  Meg’s boyfriend has let her down, again, and on top of that, he chose Christmas to do it.  In light of current events, Meg braves the blizzard raging outside to get to her best friend Noah, who will tell her exactly what she needs to hear even if she doesn’t know it yet.  Rachel found the perfect spot for her second bakery, perfect except for her building feud with the hunky neighboring bar owner Boden.  That would have been tolerable, but they’re both catering a Christmas eve wedding and the event just got snowed in.  Lindsay told everyone she was back in Colorado for her brother’s wedding, but she is thinking she may be back for good.  And when she runs into her ex-boyfriend Cal, she begins to wonder if she should.

Night of Miracles by Elizabeth Berg.  In spite of her increasing years, Lucille Howard keeps herself busy, recently teaching a baking class.  Inspired by her late friend Arthur Truluv, she shares the secrets of cakes, cookies, and other assorted sweets with a growing number of eager students.  In fact, the classes are so popular she takes on an assistant, Iris, who is new to Manson, Missouri and needs the distraction to keep her mind off her past.  When new neighbors move in next door and tragedy strikes shortly after, Lucille takes up looking after the couple’s son, hard choices seem to be multiplying but in difficult times communities can come together to withstand anything.

In Pieces by Sally Field.  With a vast range of roles under her belt, from Gidget to Sybil all the way to Mary Todd Lincoln, Sally Field has become an enduring and beloved actor.  Now Field takes readers beyond the screen to the woman behind the famous roles.  Casting a wide net to both the highs of her successes and the lows of her career, Field shows the truth of her life and relationships.  From the shy girl behind the star to relationships with her co-stars and even her own mother, Field covers it all with honesty and the prose of a natural born writer.
