New On the Shelf

Alaskan Holiday by Debbie Macomber.  Josie Avery has her dream job, and her future, all lined up.  She’ll be starting as sous chef in Seattle’s hottest restaurant in the fall, but for the summer she has taken a cooking job in Ponder, Alaska at the lakeside lodge.  Josie soon finds herself enchanted by the small town and its colorful residents, especially the resident swordsmith Palmer Saxon.  The excitement of a summer romance fades a bit for Josie when the reality of her waiting career comes crashing down with the end of the season.  As Josie plans to leave, and Palmer wishes she would stay, she misses the last boat out before winter and winds up stranded.  With her dream job in peril, Josie must choose the path she will take in life, with a little help from some Christmas magic.

Look Alive Twenty-Five by Janet Evanovich.  A deli can be famous for many reasons, the location, the food, or in the case of the Red River Deli, disappearing managers.  The Trenton deli would rather be acknowledged for its pastrami, but after three managers have vanished with the only clue in each case being a single shoe left behind it tends to stand out.  The lack of motive, clues, or anything to build an investigation on has the police at a standstill.  Theories range from the mundane to the fantastical, with at least one outspoken proponent of the alien abduction theory.  Whatever the reason, a solution is necessary for the new manager, Ms. Stephanie Plum.

The LEGO Christmas Ornaments Book 2 by Chris McVeigh.  If you have kids, or are just a big kid at heart, combining Christmas decorating and playing with LEGO is the best of both worlds.  With simple, easy to follow and full color instructions, you can create any of 16 different Christmas ornaments out of LEGO to add a personal and playful touch to your tree or just about anywhere else in the house.  There are Christmas designs like Santa, reindeer and a gingerbread house, geometric designs, and even some that are just for fun.
