New On the Shelf

The library has recently received a new batch of inspirational fiction books!  With a wide selection of authors and subjects there should be something for almost any reader.

Delayed Justice by Cara Putman.  A desire to find the voice denied to her as a child and a drive to protect other women and girls put Jamie Nichols on the path to law school and an eventual career as a criminal defense attorney.  Veteran Chandler Bolton and his therapy dog Aslan help young victims testify in court, and the latest case has him working in close proximity to Jamie.  Working together, they may be able to help not just an endangered child, but also each other.

Before, Between & After by Maureen Doyle McQuerry.  Molly Donnelly worries about many things; school, friends, her parents’ failed marriage, but mostly about her writer mother who is slowly shutting out everything but her stories.  Between taking care of her brother and dealing with her uncles’ sudden fame, Molly has been looking into her mothers’ past and may have found the key to a family mystery that could make or break what remains of the Donnelly family.

Where the Fire Falls by Karen Barnett.  Olivia feels that cultivating an ‘avant-garde’ persona is the key to success in the art scene of 1929 California.  Contracted for a series of paintings of Yosemite National Park for a travel magazine, Olivia hopes the sizeable payout will keep anyone from looking too deep into her past.  However, rugged park ranger Clark may change her mind, if he can overcome his own troubled background.

Healing Hearts by Sarah M. Eden.  Potential brides are a scarce commodity in the frontier town of Savage Wells, even for the only doctor in town.  Thinking to solve two problems at once, Dr. Gideon MacNamara engages the services of a mail-order bride service, requesting a young lady with nursing experience.  However, a garbled message ends with Miriam arriving in Savage Wells ready for a job and not a wedding.  Can romance bloom between doctor and nurse under such harsh and strange conditions?

Brunch at Bittersweet Café by Carla Laureano.  Enduring a string of romantic disasters and despairing the waste of her classical French training working nights at a chain bakery, Melody need to find a way out of her firmly established rut.  When a snowstorm deposits pilot Justin almost on her front door, Melody feels like this may just be a sign, if only they can work around their careers being on opposite sides of the country.
