The Big Kahuna by Janet Evanovich.  By the book FBI Agent Kate O’Hare and devil may care Con Man Nicholas Fox make for an incredibly unlikely, yet highly effective duo.  Assigned the far out cases most agents can’t touch, let alone handle, the only thing more impressive than their results it their chemistry.  However, their latest case may put both to the test when they go looking for a Silicon Valley billionaire known as the Big Kahuna.  When Kahuna goes missing his “actress” turned Instagram model wife and sleazy business partner only seem interested in gaining control of his company.  With little there, the only lead is Kahuna’s surf-bum son, living it up in Hawaii.  To get close to the son, Kate and Nick must go undercover in the surfer community posing as married couple.  It’s a test of which will get Kate first, the case, the hippy-dippy lifestyle, or her partner.

The Matriarch: Barbara Bush and the Making of an American Dynasty by Susan Page.  One of the most influential and popular women in American history, The Matriarch takes an in depth look at former First Lady Barbara Pierce Bush.  Written with information gathered from over one hundred interviews with family and friends, her own extensive diaries, and hours of conversation with Mrs. Bush herself, the book offers an unprecedented view of an exceptional person.  From her mother’s criticism of her weight as a young girl to the loss of her daughter to leukemia and her battles with serious depression, Barbara Bush endured to become a powerful political figure in her own right.  Wife to one U.S. President and mother to another, Mrs. Bush has had an enduring impact on the politics and culture of America.

If She Wakes by Michael Koryta.  While driving a visiting professor to a conference, college senior Tara Beckley is involved in a horrifying car crash.  The accident leaves the professor dead and Tara in a vegetative state, or so the doctors think.  In reality, Tara is still fully aware but unable to move a muscle or communicate with those around her.  Learning that a powerful and shadowy figure wants her dead, Tara can only wonder why, and what can she do lying in a hospital bed.  Hired by the college, insurance investigator Abby Kaplan puts her former stunt driving experience towards Tara’s accident and comes to the realization that it was intentional.  Looking for more answers puts her in the sights of a hitman looking to silence both her and Tara.
