Lost Roses by Martha Hall Kelly.  In 1914, the threat of war has become so common that most New Yorkers treat the possibility with disinterest.  Eliza Ferriday is one of those people, simply excited to be traveling to St. Petersburg with her closest friend and cousin to the Romanov family, Sofya Streshnayva.  However, when Austria declares war on Serbia, their long awaited trip through the splendors of Russia descends into chaos.  While Eliza manages to make her way back to America, Sofya and her family retreat to their country estate in the hopes of waiting out the conflict.   But when the family brings in new domestic help, they also unwittingly invite danger as well.  In America, Eliza eagerly awaits each letter from Sofya, but when the letters stop, she can only assume the worst.

The Confessions of Frannie Langton by Sara Collins.  Londoners love a scandal, and Frannie Langton being accused of the murder of her scientist employer and his wife fits the bill.  Courtrooms are filled to bursting and newspaper print increasingly more lurid theories about the killings and the motives of the woman being held in the Old Bailey.  Each testimony piles more damning evidence at the feet of Frannie, but she cannot seem to recall the events of the evening in question to defend herself.  The only thing Frannie can do is tell her story, her childhood on a Jamaican plantation, working under a disturbingly unethical scientist, and the forbidden relationship that may have been the reason for the murders.  Her testimony may not free her, but it will shine a light on other crimes and the dark underside of English society.

#IMomSoHard by Kristin Hensley & Jen Smedley.  This isn’t a self-help book, more two moms willing to talk about the reality of keeping multiple humans alive and mostly happy.  They know that maybe you didn’t get a shower today, and the last thing you want to hear is how you’re doing things wrong according to someone else.  Kristin and Jen know the ups and downs of being a mom, from bullying and post-partum depression to real female friendships with other moms.  Willing to talk about Mom-bods, ridiculous fashion trends, and their obsession with Khal Drogo, Kristin and Jen are the mom friends you want to have a glass of wine with and vent.
